Last year, the Morrison government newly announced that the Temporary Graduate visas are now applicable for 1-2 additional years after studying in low-density population areas of Australia.
Regional areas are classified as ‘Cities and Major Regional Centres’ and ‘ Regional Centre and Other Regional Areas’ and offer different regional incentives depending on the regional category.

The most representative part of the announcement was about an Australian Temporary Graduate visa.

You will be eligible to access an additional year of Temporary Graduate visa (3 years in total) in the cities belonging to Category 2 Cities and major Regional centres and you will be eligible to access an additional 2 years of Temporary Graduate visa (4 years in total) in the cities belonging to Category 3 Regional centres and other Regional Areas,

  • Of course, you should stay for at least 2 years in that region. Please see the table below for the details.

Today I shared information about the universities of  Category 2 ‘Cities and major Regional centres’ and Category 3 ‘Regional centres and other Regional Areas’ in Australia.

In line with Australia’s new policy, I recommend choosing a university from one of the regional areas for migration purposes. There are scholarships and Temporary graduate visa benefits for universities in regional areas, and also, a priority will be given when applying for skilled migrants who migrate to locations classified as Category 2 and 3. If you plan to immigrate after studying in Australia, you should consider these areas.
